Stefan Van Holten on banjo, harmonica, lead vocals, and harmony, has put together a wonderful mix of musicians, vocalists, and friends to create the newest version of Rhyme ‘n’ Reason.  John Major on guitar sings lead vocals and harmony, Joe Rohrer also sings lead vocals and harmony and his bass  playing adds a solid heartbeat to the group, and Bob Tremblay adds beautiful sound to each song on the dobro.




Stefan Van Holten (banjo, harmonica, lead, and harmony vocals) not only plays banjo, but is a prolific songwriter with songs such as Red Hill Creek, Love Went Away, Lost Time, Sticks and Stones as well as many others.  He has been nominated BEST BANJO PLAYER and BEST COMPOSER (2010, 2011, 2012), and awarded BEST COMPOSER in 2010. Rhyme ‘n’ Reasons double cd Just What I Need, released in 2013, was nominated for, and won, RECORDING OF THE YEAR in 2014. Rhyme ‘n’ Reason’s cd Sticks and Stones was nominated for, and won  RECORDING OF THE YEAR in 2016.



Joe Rohrer (bass, lead, and harmony)  has been around bluegrass for years, and has spent all of his free time playing bluegrass, hunting, fishing, and trapping.  Joe resides in Port Rowan and was nominated for BASS PLAYER OF THE YEAR in 2016.




John Major’s roots are the Ottawa Valley.  He has been playing and singing for many years and played in a bluegrass band previously.  His unique voice and guitar playing add a wonderful dimension to Rhyme ‘n’ Reason’s sound.


Bob Tremblay is no stranger to the music world. His beautiful dobro playing ties the sound of Rhyme ‘n’ Reason together nicely.
